Beating Freedom Into You by BullMoose1912 Beating Freedom Into You by BullMoose1912
In the wake of the police actions against Anaheim protestors I decided to make this. It's very simple, but I think it gets the point across.

The American and local governments make so much talk about freedom and liberty yet react with such brutality toward those who take advantage of the liberties they have been given to address grievances they have with their government.

I see your point, but "to all things there is a season". there is a time to protest, and a time to Gather suporters, Preverably amoung law inforcement so what is illistated above does not happen. Besides What is Anaheim? And were was this? California is notorious For Using police brutality against Assembly's Greater then 3. everywhere else excluding the capitol I can't imagine such a thing happening without just cause.

Capitalists ans socialist fasts are one in the same. When money runs your court system and the wealthy matter over any other demographic the police tend to crack down on the decedent poor.

The concept of 'free" trade is misleading as hell.

It implies that there is an even starting point, but if your already a billionaire tycoon and you flood the markets with venture capital funds to squeeze out the 250k companies it plays out like bigoted tyranny.

Protest it, I friggin dare you!

Only then does this picture take on its most potent appeal.

"And" rather than "ans"

And "fascists" in place of "fasts"

Excuse me..I tend to type too fast and sloppy! lol

Let's admit it. Every government that I am aware of is fucked up to the point where the things we're meant to be allowed to do get frowned upon and beaten down.

You can't protest here in the US anymore without getting the living shit beat out of you by the power abusive police...

I read an article online awhile back where they actually denied a man the occupation of policeman because he was literally, "too smart", and "Would get board with police work". Doesn't surprise me. The dumber you are, and the less you question things, the more controllable you are.

I remember reading about how some people in an especially impoverished area of Oakland turned an abandoned library, previously used for drug dealing and child prostitution, into a working library again. The people in the neighborhood all got together and cleaned everything up and put in books and everything. However, the neighborhood had to watch out 24/7 for police looking to undo all of their hard work.

Here's their Facebook page. [link]

Geez, that's f*cked up..

The building was abandoned for years, what the hell does the city care if something useful is done with it? In a place like Oakland, with extrordinarily high amounts of murder, rape, break ins, prostitution, etc., the only thing the police care about is a group of people trying to improve their community..

They have a few vids on Youtube, we should try spreading them.

If you told me five years ago that the police were thugs and pigs and that we were heading towards a police state, I would laugh in your face; but now that I’ve actually started paying attention to the news, I’m afraid I actually have to agree.

I don't hate the police in general though. I think a lot of people (especially people of color) join the police force because of the benefits, not because they're psychopaths.

Even cops support Occupy. [link]

True. Not all cops are pigs, but most pigs are cops.

I guess one has to wonder what kind of people would be eager to sign up for a job that includes a gun, a taser, a nightstick, an attack dog, and a military-like hierarchy, not to mention significant power over the citizenry.

I think that might explain the psychopathic nature of some cops.

When your job offers the sole privilege of using force and coercion on others, you ultimately end up attracting thugs.

Guns.... cowardice. if i were to get hurt by a police i much rather it be a knife or a stick bat or mace. At least you have the ability to run away. I would be so angry and vengeful if i got shot by a barely mobile fat guy.......
If you are going to hurt me do so with your own abilities.

Here's a local news story from a CBS affiliate, which on YouTube has already gotten over 80,000 views (Though its view counts seems to change all the time. At one point the same video said over 150,000 views, and that was several days ago.) [link]
Democracy Now, though it's pretty biased, even if it is toward the protesters. [link]

Basically search Anaheim Police Brutality, and you'd probably find a lot of results on what will probably become a highly partisan issue.

Very dark parallels to the days of the Civil Rights movement when police brought out the dogs and the hoses on non-violent protesters.

For a country that has contributed so many artistic wonders to the world, it saddens me to see the casual thuggery of the authorities. When I see things of this nature, I can't help but think that something is deeply wrong with America, that there's no relief to the problems the people face and that the entire nation has a kind of cancer, eating away at it piece by piece.

Of course, you're not the first one to make that comparison. I just did a google search of Anaheim Police Bull Connor and got 8.5 million results.

Like I definitely don't hate America. Had it not been for America giving sanctuary to my ancestors, I wouldn't be here. And as someone who spent time in Paris, I can definitely say there's a lot to be admired about America with its efficiency and convenience and of course its food and its art [link]

America has just lost its way. And it really bugs me when people use words like liberty and freedom not as actual ideas but more as essentially meaningless propaganda words.

I've just become incredibly cynical about government yet incredibly optimistic about people since around 2011, seeing both the rise of populist movements and the brutal backlash by government forces.

Of course we have whatever freedoms both social and economic we have today because people fought for them. It's not so much about famous men and women so much as the many people who followed their example. Many people who fought and died for these things are probably unknown today aside from possible decedents and friends. But their contribution was extremely important. The 300,000 people who took part in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom were on par in importance with the leaders who took part in the march. [link]

that is true..and i wish most people would do that now..it seems like (even to a lower scale here) all people despite the system of government there in have been taught"dont you dare go against things that are government is right you'll loose your job , and be stupid, and get beat etc etc just do what your told and your free to us" im i could be wrong..im still barely an adult but it seems like this is what most of the conflicts are bout plus the greed of countries trying to use it for there own gain..just kinda like blacks did with gays ..they used them for there cause and now well..there one of the most vocal against it again i could be wrong but thats just seems how it is

Just out of curiosity... what were the Anaheim protestors accused of doing, which led to this crackdown?

Basically cops shot an unarmed man, people witnessing the action protested, cops say that some of them were throwing rocks, though the cops just unleashed their guard dogs and open-fired on them with less-lethal weapons, including women and children, not just those throwing rocks.

Indeed it seems that in these times we have the freedom to be good citizens, doctors, and bad people but as soon as we raise a flag the government may take "necesary" but exagerated actions.
